Yoga Program

The true essence of yoga revolves around elevating the life force or ‘Kundalini’ at the base of the spine. It aims to achieve this through a series of physical and mental exercises. At the physical level, the methods comprise various yoga postures or 'asanas' that aim to keep the body healthy.


With the aim to help the Staff, Students and University fraternity of CUSAT to attain the good health , the Department of Physical Education has been instrumental in conducting a routine Yoga program. The venture was fruitful with an active participation of nearly 100 individuals. Separate classes were conducted for students. The program was financially supported by the UGC including the same under the “Swasth Bharat scheme”.

Also the International Yoga Day was celebrated in Cochin University of Science and Technology as envisaged by the University Grants Commission on 21st June, 2016. A gathering of around 50 persons including, students, teachers and staff actively participated in the program. The celebrations that started at 7.00am, extended upto 8.30am, which included all the programs as included in the Yoga Protocol given by the Ministry of Ayush. Dr. Bose, guided the team.
